FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What Exactly Is High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)?

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound is a non-surgical, no downtime procedure used for eliminating wrinkles, lifting and tightening sagging skin of the forehead, brows, eyelids, cheeks, lower face (jawline), neck, loose skin that occurs after weight loss on stomach, arms, thighs, and loose skin after pregnancy.

  • How Does HIFU Work?

It utilises ultrasonic energy to penetrate deep below the skin and fat layer of the face to gently but effectively target connective tissue. Connective tissue is a firm, tough layer that supports the neck and facial contours. Ageing and the passage of time cause connective tissues to droop. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound tightens loose connective tissue, creating firmness and lift to areas of sagging skin. The layer of tissue targeted is the same tissue that plastic surgeon’s tighten and shift during a surgical face-lift or brow lift.

  • What Problem Areas Does HIFU Target?

HIFU works on the full face, double chins & neck, chest, arms, elbows, tummy, inner thighs and knees. HIFU addresses mild to moderate loose or sagging skin.

  • When Will I See Results And What Can I Expect?

Whilst you'll see a difference immediately after the procedure, smoother, firmer, and brighter skin will develop over the course of 2-3 months with continued improvement for up to 6 months and lasting approximately 2-3 years. The treatment causes collagen formation in the dermis, giving longer lasting results that occur gradually but dramatically over time. By reconditioning and renewing the skin from within, HIFU will lift the brow, which in turn reduces excess skin on the lids, opens up the eyes, and gives a more refreshed look overall.

  • Why Does It Work So Well?

Ultrasound technology is focused below the skin surface to firm and lift droopy tissues. Non-invasive ultrasound energy generates low levels of heat in the targeted skin. This stimulates the cells for collagen production and tissue rejuvenation. With just one treatment, HIFU pushes mature skin to start working hard again. Since its release HIFU has been quickly growing in popularity with experts worldwide as an advanced device for serious sagging.

  • What Makes HIFU So Unique?

HIFU is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin (addressed in cosmetic surgery) without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely where it will be most effective.

  • What Are The Benefits Of HIFU?

    * No Botox or Fillers * No cuts to the skin and no potential for scarring

    * No downtime - back to work the same day

    * No anaesthesia

    * Only one treatment necessary.

  • How Much Does It Cost?

HIFU is a new procedure and is normally priced between $3,000 - $4,000 for the entire face and neck. However, if you book your procedure during the month of January, we are offering a special price of just $1,375. This price will rise soon.

If you would prefer to pay via installments, we have organised a payment plan of $250 per month for 6 months.

  • How Long Does The Treatment Take?

A HIFU consultation will take approximately 15 minutes.

A full face and neck HIFU treatment will take approximately 2.5 hours.

A consult and treatment can be done on the same day if time allows.

  • What Happens During The Treatment?

You will be required to fill in a client form prior to treatment.

Your technician will then mark the areas of your face that are being treated. Following this the HIFU machine is then applied to the face in the desired areas sending high intensity ultrasound pulses focused deep into the muscle layer. As this energy is delivered collagen starts to build and repair. This process begins immediately and the whole process will continue for up to 6 months. Over this time all levels of the skin down to the muscle layer will continue to heal repair and tighten.

The treatment is NOT PAINFUL but more of an energy sensation, however some may choose to self medicate if they have low pain thresholds.

You CAN go home straight after treatment unless you have self medicated in which case you should make travel arrangements.

Sarah Parish
UK actress, Sarah Parish, 48, is a big fan of HIFU. She first came to fame in The Bill in 1994, and remains one of Britain’s most successful actresses.

She says: ‘I had treatment four months ago, and it’s still working now. ‘The difference I feel in my skin is incredible; there’s definitely a tightening feeling and I’ve lost those little jowls that I had before.

‘The texture and quality of my skin feels completely different and we’re only four months in so it’s just going to keep getting better and better.

‘The reason I came to have HIFU was because I was noticing on camera it was becoming increasingly hard to light me in certain ways because I was losing laxity in my skin and becoming a little bit jowly, and slightly hollowed [in my cheeks].

‘I wanted a non-invasive treatment, that didn’t involve needles or knives or anything scary.

‘I’ve really noticed a difference, and it’s been much, much easier to just shove me in front of a camera and film me, rather than having lights being moved left, right and centre to negate certain hollows and nasties that I had before.’
Dr Tracey Mountford
Dr Tracey Mountford, founder of the Cosmetic Skin Clinic, said she has seen a marked upturn in celebrities opting for non-invasive treatments such as HIFU.

‘HIFU is one of the best-kept secrets in the beauty industry. We are noticing more and more actors and actresses coming for treatment because there is no downtime, and it looks totally natural.

‘It enhances the natural beauty of the face, rather than changing it, and helps recounter and refine the structure without looking fake.

‘There is no inhibition of movement in the face which is obviously vital for an actress, and although the treatment can be a little uncomfortable at times, celebrities can go out on the red carpet that night without people knowing they’ve had anything done.’
